Today you will hear Dominic talk about how he has worked to overcome his demons to become a better citizen, and what his future goals are. This is the second story where we hear someone talk about how important it is to get a driver’s license. I’ll be honest, this is something I take for granted on a daily basis – the freedom to move around at my own pace, to see my family when I want, and how it impacts my ability to be involved in my community. Dominic differentiates between regrets and remorse as he travels the road to recovery, so let’s hear his story.
Today, I hope you hear the story of Precious. A single mom who believes the more you give the more you get. She tells an incredible story of forgiveness in the midst of growing up in and out of foster care, the repercussions of making bad decisions as a teenager when you have no one to help you and ultimately paying a bigger price.
Today you hear Lance tell his story of growing up in the suburbs of New Jersey, pursuing marriage and a career in Arizona and California, and how he upended his life and all he knew in Colorado. Lance speaks candidly about divorce, prison, coming out, and moving forward.
Since January, we’ve been thinking of new and creative ways to share the stories and experiences of those who come to Denver Urban Matters for services with our supporters. This task usually falls to our staff and volunteers who share the stories with you through our written publications or at events. But there is always something missing. Those stories are our interpretations, given through our filters. So, we decided to do something about it. We’re excited to announce our new podcast, Your Voice Matters!
