Computer Skills Teacher Job Description

Responsible to:

Job Services Case Manager, Alex Delgado

General Job Description:     

Put your expertise to work! We need professionals who can help our “hard to employ” participants develop their marketable skills.

Responsibilities:              

Be available on weekdays in the computer lab for questions on word processing, resume building, and Internet searches.

-  Conduct small group classes in skill-building classes on your specialty:

                 - typing

                 - word processing

                 - Internet searches

                 - resumes

                 - job search techniques

                 - work ethic

                 - personal presentation.

-  Work with staff and clients as necessary to maintain a safe DenUM environment for all.

Skills Required:

-  Must be at least 18 years old.

Good knowledge of computers, especially word processing and internet searches.

-  Ability to communicate well with diverse populations.

Must demonstrate poise, compassion and non-judgment toward clients.  

Must be able to understand, communicate, and uphold DenUM policies and procedures.

Time Commitment:

2-4 hour commitments during open business hours:

M/T/Th/F 9 a.m.-3:30 p.m., Wed. 9 a.m.-12 p.m.

Schedules can be accommodated for weekly, monthly, or project-based commitments.

DenUM’s Commitment:

A minimum of 4 hours of orientation covering emergency procedures, DenUM rules and program policies, resource management, and facility tour.

At least one hour of job shadowing and supervised training on direct service procedures.

-  Continuing education throughout the year.

-  A mentor program with experienced staff members is available to new volunteers.
